Message from Anthony C. O'Brien, President of the Patchogue-Medford Board of Education regarding the Resignation of Dr. Michael Hynes, Superintendent of Schools

The following is a message from Anthony C. O’Brien, President of the Patchogue-Medford Board of Education:

On Tuesday, May 7, the Patchogue-Medford Board of Education was notified by Dr. Michael Hynes, the Superintendent of Schools, that he would be resigning from his position in July in order to accept the position of superintendent in another school district.

Our Board of Education was not expecting this news, as we suspect, were many of you.  The Board of Education and Patchogue-Medford School District wish Dr. Hynes great success in the future.

We have had a wonderful relationship with Dr. Hynes for nearly five years now and were expecting for it to continue.

We want you to know that the growth and success of our school district during his tenure will continue.  Our mission and focus will remain on providing the best education to all of our students and fostering the growth of the whole child.  Our Board of Education remains committed to the goals and ambitions to which we have aspired.

Going forward there will be change in the Superintendent’s Office and we will apprise you, our school community, of our plans as they move forward. You will be hearing more from Dr. Hynes about his decision in the days ahead.

Please know that our commitment to our district family; students, administration, faculty, staff, families and community remains unchanged.

Thank you.
