Board of Education Approves Resolution Refusing to Administer Field Tests for New York State Assessments

At their March 18, 2019 Business Meeting the Board of Education, again, passed a resolution directing district administers not to administer Field Tests for New York State Assessments to district students. 

This resolution has been sent to the New York State Education Department and is below in its entirety:

WHEREAS, the New York State Education Department has notified the Patchogue-Medford School District of upcoming Field Tests designed to assess the potential content to be placed on future New York State Assessments, and

WHEREAS, the Patchogue-Medford School District has a long record of opposing the use of district students and their valuable classroom time for this purpose, going back to March of 2010, and

WHEREAS, the New York State Education Department has yet to provide the Board of Education of the Patchogue-Medford School District with any educationally sound reason for the administration of these Field Tests to district students, therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education directs the Superintendent of Schools and district administrators to refrain from administering New York State Assessment Field Tests during the 2018-2019 school year.
