Dear Patchogue-Medford School Community,

It is with profound gratitude and genuine enthusiasm that I introduce myself as your new Superintendent. I am honored to join this vibrant community and to serve alongside our dedicated educators, supportive families, and remarkable students as we begin the 2026 – 2027 school year!

I am a lifelong Long Islander with deep roots in our region. My wife, Janine, is an elementary school teacher whose passion for education has inspired me throughout my career. Together, we have raised two wonderful adult children and look forward to becoming active members of the Patchogue-Medford community.

My professional journey spans more than three decades across multiple roles and school districts—from classroom teacher and coach to Principal, Assistant Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and most recently, Superintendent. I have had the privilege of serving in Oyster Bay-East Norwich CSD, Half Hollow Hills CSD, Farmingdale Public Schools, and Miller Place UFSD, as well as contributing to higher education at Molloy University, Touro College, and Russell Sage College. These varied experiences have shaped my understanding of what it takes to build thriving schools where all students succeed.

At the heart of my leadership philosophy is a simple but powerful belief: we must first meet students where they are—academically and emotionally—and then provide them with the opportunities to achieve excellence and pursue their passions.

I also recognize that affiliation—the sense of belonging and connection—is a core motivational force. When we provide praise, encouragement, and shared experiences, we strengthen students' willingness to participate, persist, and ultimately succeed.

Being your Superintendent is much more than implementing policy, managing fiscal responsibility, and navigating challenges. At its core, it is about stewardship and an unwavering commitment to the students of this community. I am honored to serve in this role and eager to work alongside you to advance the Patchogue-Medford School District as a place for educational excellence.

Educational Credo

My philosophy of education has been shaped over time through my experience as a student, a teacher, a building and district administrator and as a parent. During my time working directly with children with disabilities, I would often hear, “when you've seen one child with Autism, you have seen one child with Autism.” 

I have learned repeatedly that his mantra holds true for any of the demographics or characterizations you can attach to a student “when you've seen one child who is…. an athlete, a multilingual learner, an honor student, from a certain neighborhood in our community…every child is unique. 

It is our mission to ensure we first meet students where they are academically & emotionally and second provide opportunities for them to achieve excellence and pursue their passions. We must ensure our students experience robust curricular and co-curricular activities that provide a window to what is possible and the right faculty to open the doors to those possibilities. 

While John Hattie’s research tells us that “when teachers work together to know and evaluate their impact” the effect on student learning is significant; Helen Keller reminds us that, alone we can do so little; together we can do so much. 

When we surround students with trusted adults, provide sound research-based instruction and experiential learning opportunities in academics, athletics and the arts students will flourish. Each success fortifies the culture and strengthens the resolve of the teachers & leaders to “know thy impact”.

Our work is grounded in Richard Elmore's Instructional Core model, which focuses on three interconnected elements:

Content: The level and quality of what we teach

Skill of the Teacher: How effectively instruction is delivered

Engagement of the Student: The degree of active participation in learning

Improving student outcomes requires strengthening all three elements—not just one in isolation.

Our district's established mission and vision are powerful and student-centered:

Mission: To provide diverse pathways and varied enrichment opportunities that lead to meaningful learning experiences for ALL STUDENTS.

Vision: To inspire curiosity and confidence through creative learning opportunities, cultivating talents so our students and staff can realize their unique potential.

Together, we will pursue Mission-Aligned Refinements—such as expanded course offerings and meaningful student and parent voice on learning relevance—and Vision-Aligned Refinements—including creative pedagogy and inquiry-based learning.

I am committed to advancing the following priorities:

Student Achievement We will work tirelessly to achieve exemplary student outcomes, close achievement and opportunity gaps, and expand access to advanced coursework and career and technical education (CTE) opportunities. Our students deserve to develop the future-ready skills—cognitive, interpersonal, self-leadership, and digital competencies—that will help them thrive in an evolving world.

Social-Emotional Learning and Mental Health We will implement evidence-based programs across all schools that teach self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. We will also solidify partnerships with community mental health agencies to provide comprehensive support and resources.

Staff Excellence Our teachers and staff are the heart of our district. I am committed to fostering an inquiry-based learning environment that enhances student engagement and ownership. We will provide ongoing professional development and instructional tools to leverage the varied skills and expertise of our dedicated faculty. To our teachers: Know your impact!

Financial and Organizational Wellness We will meet the challenges of fiscal uncertainty through comprehensive financial planning, rigorous budget review, and strategic reallocation of resources to essential priorities. We will also ensure a multi-year-old facility approach that maintains the sustained, optimal condition of all district buildings.

Community Engagement We will proactively engage with stakeholders—including our PTA, SEPTA, and community organizations—to showcase our successes and position Patchogue-Medford as a leader in educational excellence and innovation. I am committed to hosting regular superintendent-led meetings with parent groups to build trust through transparent, strategic dialogue and collaborative problem-solving. I look forward to establishing student lunch groups with me to increase connections and hear first-hand their experience. These gatherings, along with structured meetings with our parent community, will create intentional spaces for dialogue, transparency, and shared ownership of our students' success.
