Welcome to River's Gym
I am very excited to be back at River Elementary for my second year in a row. I am looking forward to a great and exciting year. This year I ordered some new equipment that the 4th and 5th graders will get to use. For the first time, I will be teaching a unit on football in the fall and lacrosse in the spring. These units are new and will be taught in a developmentally appropriate manner. Students will work on the basic skills of throwing and catching in football. Students will work on throwing, catching, scooping, and cradling in lacrosse.
Just like last year we are participating in Jump Rope for Heart. All of your participation last year was unbelievable, thank you! The physical education department gets a small percentage of the total money raised in the form of US Games gift certificates from Jump rope for Heart Association. Last year I was able to purchase new footballs and new lacrosse. I will be doing my dance unit in the spring that was a great success especially with Mr. K. coming into your child's class from Kerboom Kidz.
The picture on the top right of this page is my Word Wall in the gym. Here students have to spell the word of the day, put it in a sentence, define the word, and put it up on the Word Wall. The picture at the bottom right is a poster of the skeleton where students will learn a new bone each week.
