Ms. Margherita Proscia - Principal
Welcome back to another exciting school year! As I welcome the students’ every day, I am happy to see their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn and to be in school.
As I welcome students for another school year as the Principal of Medford Elementary School, I would like to share a little about myself with you. A graduate of Sachem High School, I went on to study Child Study and Elementary and Special Education at St. Joseph’s College right here in Patchogue. I continued my graduate studies in Special Education at Adelphi University, and throughout the years, went on to study at C. W. Post, the College of New Rochelle and post graduate studies at Dowling College. As you can see, I am a lifelong learner.
After teaching for many years, my path led me to Middle Country where I began my administrative career as an Assistant Principal. My journey continued, and I began my career in Patchogue Medford first at South Ocean, followed by the Patchogue Medford High School, then on to Saxton, and finally here at Medford.
I grew up in a non-English speaking family but my love of school and learning never waned. School was always a safe place for me and where my family and I felt supported. This sentiment is one that I hope to pass on to the students and families of the Medford and Patchogue-Medford Community. I love the Home/School/Community partnership that already exists here at Medford Elementary School and I am looking forward to developing long term relationships based on mutual respect, caring, and support for educational and personal goals. Together, we will work to ensure that Medford students have positive and successful learning experiences.
