Over the past year, we have received feedback from many families that the volume of district and school communications—particularly ParentSquare posts—has become overwhelming. While we remain committed to keeping our community informed, we also want to ensure that important information is communicated in a way that is clear, organized, and easy for families to follow.
As part of our ongoing efforts to improve communication with families and ensure consistency across all schools and departments, we will streamline communication as much as possible.
To support this effort, we have established a weekly posting schedule that outlines the days designated for specific types of communications. Organizing posts throughout the week will help reduce the number of messages families receive on any given day, improve consistency across the District, and make it easier for parents to locate and engage with important information.
Please review the posting schedule below and plan communications accordingly. If a time-sensitive or emergency communication is required, it may be sent outside of the established schedule.

Where appropriate, individual announcements will be consolidated into a newsletter-style format, and related flyers will be grouped together within a single ParentSquare post. This approach will reduce the total number of messages families receive while ensuring they continue to receive all important information in a clear, organized, and easy-to-reference format. Our goal is to improve the overall communication experience by delivering timely information without overwhelming families with multiple separate notifications throughout the week.
External Organizations - Communication Guidelines
The Patchogue-Medford School District reserves the right to determine the content, timing, and method of all communications shared through District communication channels.
The examples below outline how the District determines where information is shared. Individuals or organizations wishing to distribute information to the Patchogue-Medford community must complete the District's Communication and Posting Request Form for review and approval.
For events taking place on Patchogue-Medford School District property, an approved Building Use must be on file before the event will be considered for community distribution.
In addition, unless the communication is for an official Patchogue-Medford School District event or program, all flyers and communications must include the following disclaimer: "This is not a district-sponsored event."
Submission of a communication request does not guarantee approval or distribution. All requests are reviewed to ensure they align with District policies, communication priorities, and available communication channels.
