Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

  • What is MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication)?

Multi-Factor Authentication is the necessity to use two or more verification methods to access a particular resource.

Cybersecurity threats are increasing, and schools are part of the critical infrastructure that is targeted. We have taken numerous precautions and instituted even more safeguards. However, multi-factor authentication is the next requirement that we must implement districtwide. This will be a phased deployment starting with users that have access to the most critical information. We will be utilizing a product called Duo Mobile by Cisco Systems.

In addition to your password, you will need to utilize either an app on your smartphone (Android or iOS) or a Security Token that we will provide you with. The Duo Mobile app is the preferred and easiest method. If you would rather utilize the Security Token, please complete the Security Token Request Form. The Security Token is a separate device that you will need to carry and have on you at all times should you need to log on to a District Application.

    Phase I Applications:

    • Any application that utilizes Microsoft 365 Sign On (OneDrive, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Below you will find step-by-step guides that walk you through how to configure multi-factor authentication, once enabled. We will also be around to assist during the initial rollout.

Please make sure to download the Mobile App ahead of time.
