    *Since Wednesday is a full remote day, teachers will be given the option of working on-site or at home.  We will accommodate teachers who would rather report to his/her class to deliver live instruction.  However, should there be a need to require teachers to report to work for a scheduled PDP, they will be given a week’s notice.

    Office Hours

    Office hours will be held only on Wednesday.  Teachers can hold office hours from 7:30 am – 8:00 am or from 3:12 pm to 3:42 pm.

    • All course work scheduled during periods 7-9 will be on full remote learning. The courses will include a combination of synchronous and asynchronous instruction:


    Synchronous Instruction

    Synchronous instruction (live) for courses schedule during periods 7-9 will be EVERY Wednesday during the times listed below.  All students (Cohort 1 and Cohort 2) are required to attend the live instruction on Wednesday.

    Asynchronous Instruction

    Asynchronous instruction for courses scheduled during periods 7-9 will take place on Monday and Tuesday for Cohort 2 and Thursday and Friday day for Cohort 1.  Asynchronous instruction will include additional instructional experiences.  Instructional experiences may include, but are not limited to: completing online tasks; viewing instructional videos; responding to posts from teachers; conducting research; engaging in online discussions with classroom teacher; small group instruction with the teacher; or completion of projects. 

    Half year courses scheduled during periods 7-9 will have instructional experiences that will be equivalent to 90 minutes of instruction per week.  Students will be required to attend the Live instruction scheduled on Wednesday (30 minutes) plus complete additional work equivalent to 60 minutes of weekly instruction.  Instructional experiences that include, but are not limited to: completing online tasks; viewing instructional videos; responding to posts from teachers; conducting research; engaging in online discussions with classroom teacher; small group instruction with the teacher; or completion of projects.  This will work be posted on the teacher’s Schoology page. 

    Semester courses scheduled during periods 7-9 will have instructional experiences that will be equivalent to 90 minutes of instruction per week.  Students will be required to attend the Live instruction scheduled on Wednesday (60 minutes) plus complete additional work equivalent to 30 minutes of weekly instruction.  Instructional experiences that include, but are not limited to: completing online tasks; viewing instructional videos; responding to posts from teachers; conducting research; engaging in online discussions with classroom teacher; small group instruction with the teacher; or completion of projects.  This will work be posted on the teacher’s Schoology page. 

    Full year courses scheduled during periods 7-9 will have instructional experiences that will be equivalent to 180 minutes of instruction per week. Students will be required to attend the Live instruction scheduled on Wednesday (60 minutes) plus complete additional work equivalent to 120 minutes of weekly instruction.  Instructional experiences include, but are not limited to: completing online tasks; viewing instructional videos; responding to posts from teachers; conducting research; engaging in online discussions with classroom teacher; small group instruction with the teacher; or completion of projects.   These activities will be posted on Monday and Tuesday for Cohort 2 and on Thursday and Friday for Cohort 1.

    Sample High School Student Schedule:

    Example:  You are a high school student in Cohort 1.  Since you are in Cohort I, In-person instruction will be Monday and Tuesday and Remote Learning will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

    Substantial Equivalent Instructional Experiences:

    Full Year Courses (180 minutes required)

    • Courses that take place during the school day, meet twice per week for 55 minutes each. This is a total of 110 minutes. Teachers need to supply an additional 70 minutes of instructional experiences when students are on remote learning.
    • Courses that take place on full remote (periods 7-9), meet with their class(es) for live instruction once per week on Wednesday for 60 minutes. Teachers need to supply an additional 120 minutes of instructional experiences when students are on remote learning.

    Half Year Courses (90 minutes required)

    • A-Day/B-Day courses that take place during the school day, meet with their class once per week for 55 minutes each. Teachers need to supply an additional 35 minutes of instructional experiences when students are on remote learning.
    • A-Day/B-Day courses that take place on full remote (periods 7-9), meet with their class(es) for live instruction once per week on Wednesday for 30 minutes. Teachers need to supply an additional 60 minutes of instructional experiences when students are on remote learning.
    • Semester based courses that take place during the school day, meet with their class twice per week for 55 minutes. This is a total of 110 minutes.  No additional instructional experiences need to be posted since you met the mandated minutes for a half-year course during in-person instruction.
    • Semester based courses that that take place on full remote (periods 7-9), meet with their class(es) for live instruction once per week on Wednesday for 60 minutes. Teachers need to supply an additional 30 minutes of instructional experiences when students are on remote learning.
    • Physical Education: All students in grades 9-12 are required to attend and participate in physical education for not less than three times per week in one semester, and not less than two times per week in the other semester. Since we are only seeing students once per week, we must supply instructional experiences that are the equivalent of two physical education classes when students are on remote learning.

    As per the NYSED Reopening Guidance documents substantial equivalent instruction may include, but is not limited to: meaningful and frequent interaction with a certified teacher; completing online work/tasks assigned by the teachers; viewing instructional videos; responding to posts or instructor questions; engaging with other class participants in an online or phone discussion; conducting research; doing projects; or meeting with a teacher with an instructor face to face, via an online platform or phone.  Any alternative instructional experiences must include meaningful feedback on-student assignments and methods of tracking student engagement.
