Please join me in congratulating the following staff members who were selected as Employees of the Month.

Maria Filosa, Special Education Teacher at Tremont

This recognition is a testament to Mrs. Filosa’s hard work and dedication to our students and staff. She has taken the initiative to conduct many PDP’s for our teachers that helps to advance teacher and student growth. While Mrs. Filosa understands that putting yourself out there in front of your colleagues may make you vulnerable, it also helps to demonstrate your commitment to grow and learn together without fear or judgment of making missteps along the way. She consistently demonstrates a “can-do” spirit that rises above any obstacles or challenges that come her way. She continually volunteers to participate on committees that offer assistance to better our schools and community. She is an invaluable resource to our students and teachers both in and out of her department. She is a constant advocate for her students, and a teacher leader among her colleagues. We are proud to recognize her efforts and we look forward to her continued contributions. Thank you!

Ramon Vasquez, Network & Systems Specialist at PMHS

Mr. Vasquez always ensures that the equipment at the High School is readily available and functioning properly. When equipment needs to be fixed, he promptly addresses the issue so downtime is minimized. He has exceptional problem-solving skills, which helps to ensure the network is operational and ready for teacher and student use without disruption. When a problem arises, he is quick to say, “Not to worry, I will find something and I will figure it out!” Mr. Vasquez’s “solution-friendly” mindset is a testament to his service mentality, and the high-level of customer service that our students and staff appreciate.  For these reasons, we are proud to recognize his efforts and we look forward to his continued contributions. Thank you for all you do!

    Music Department, District-Wide

This worthy distinction is a tribute to the Music Department’s efforts to organize and implement the first-ever Music Teacher Recital Performance for our Patchogue-Medford Community. This was a wonderful event that showcased their passion for their craft, and truly inspired the audience. As a department, they worked in collaboration with our Music and Art Booster Club, FAME, which helped to raise monies for scholarships and awards for our students. This event was another prime example of their collective commitment to the Patchogue-Medford Music Program and illustrates the professional capital that exists throughout our staff. This event proved to be a huge morale booster, and is a wonderful example of their dedication to our students and community. We are proud to recognize their collective efforts and we look forward to their continued contributions.

These candidates represent some of the best of Patchogue-Medford and were nominated for their positivity, work ethic, spirit of collegiality and connection with students. We are honored to celebrate their contributions and the many more staff members who continue to exemplify the traits that make Patchogue-Medford stand out!
