Be a Bucket Filler

Have You Filled A Bucket Today?
For the past four years as part of our ongoing character education development, we utilized the book, Have You Filled A Bucket Today? A Guide to Daily Happiness For Kids by Carol McCloud. Tremont Elementary School is committed to continuing as a Bucket Filling School that promotes positive choices which lead to healthy social and emotional growth. To date, we have incorporated our Bucket Fillers of the Month, and our Bully Buster Club creates weekly announcements fostering positive choices. To continue with this campaign and to reinforce this concept to our new students, we will again explore new opportunities to promote and recognize positive choices.
The main idea of Bucket Filling is that we all carry an invisible bucket in which we keep our feelings about ourselves. When our buckets are full, we are happy; when they are empty, we are sad. We can fill our own bucket and so can others. However, when we are sad or angry and act that way, we are dipping into others’ buckets. Children are taught a simple metaphor of a bucket to help them understand the importance of kindness and consideration for others. This concept applies to every aspect of life and to people of all ages.
Tremont teachers and students will be working diligently to continue our Bucket Filling atmosphere at our school. Log on to www.bucketfillers101.com to learn how you can easily support this campaign and incorporate this concept on a daily basis.
