The Fine Arts play a significant role in the Patchogue-Medford educational program. From kindergarten through their high school years, students create original art work in a wide variety of media. Skill-based instruction in contour drawing, value, light shading, color theory, perspective, two dimensional and three dimensional design is provided sequentially throughout the grades. In the middle school, we offer 8th Grade Studio Art, which is a high school credit bearing course and can be taken by teacher recommendation.
Patchogue-Medford High School students have the opportunity to take advanced studies in the fine arts including drawing and painting, ceramics and sculpture, and fashion design, as well as technology based programs such as computer graphics, media arts, video, and photography. Student art work is displayed throughout the district in all schools for the District-wide Art Show held near the end of the school year.
Patchogue-Medford students’ art work is frequently displayed and honored in many local exhibits and competitions. We frequently partake in contests in which our students have won a variety of opportunities. Some of these include the Island of Color" Art Show, Shanti Fund project, Long Island Media Arts Show and many more.
