Dear Parents and /or Guardians,
The location for the arrival and dismissal of Kindergartner and 1st Grade students (and their siblings) only, will be moved from the Route 112 entrance of Medford Elementary School to the front (main) entrance located on Dahlia Street effective January 8, 2018.
Arrival and dismissal for grades 2-5 has been re-assigned to the North door on the route 112 entrance of Medford Elementary School, closest to Sunrise Highway.
Signs for the school will be installed on Dahlia Street and will read as follows: "STUDENT PICK UP AND DROP OFF AREA".
A cross walk area will be painted for students on the Dahlia Street entrance to the school. The location of the mini buses will be moved to the bus loop, along with the other buses, to the back of the building where the large busses also drop students.
Parking for all guests is allowed in the parking lot. Drop off of students attending child care will continue at the main door beginning at 7:15 a.m. Parking is permitted on Dahlia Street before 9:00 a.m., and after 4:00 p.m. Cones will be placed at the entrance and exit of the drive way on Dahlia Street during arrival and drop off of students. The cones will be placed at the driveway to prevent anyone from driving through the driveway during school day drop off and pick up times.
These changes will be effective on Monday, January 8, 2018. Thank you in advance for your support ion providing a safe arrival and dismissal of students.
As always, the safety of the children is our first priority. In order to continue to keep Medford Elementary safe and secure, doors will remain locked at all times with the exception of the front, Main Entry doors. A greeter will be monitoring the Main Entry between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Visitors will be required to enter at the Main Entry, present photo identification and sign in. For the safety of our children, visitors without photo identification will not be permitted to enter the building.
Please do not ask us to compromise the safety of your children by making exceptions. We will only release students to parents/guardians designees as noted on your child’s emergency contact card. Your child will not be released to anyone else unless stated in writing and adjusted on his/her emergency contact card. In addition, anyone picking up a child will be asked to show identification before signing out your child.
Early release of your child should be reserved for important appointments as this disrupts the educational process. If you must pick-up your child from school, please send a note in with your child in the morning. Students who will be picked up for early release need to be signed out before 2:45 PM. After that time students will only be released at regular dismissal time (3:15 PM). When you come to pick up your child you will have to sign your child out in the main office, you will be asked to show identification. Any dismissal changes must be in writing. We will not accept dismissal changes over the telephone.
