Assistant Superintendent for Instruction

Lori Cannetti

Mrs. Cannetti has worked in the field of education for over twenty-five years both as a mathematics teacher and building level administrator.  She was worked in the Patchogue-Medford School District since 1999 serving as the assistant principal of Saxton Middle School,  the building principal of Oregon Middle School, and the building principal of Canaan Elementary School.  Mrs. Cannetti was appointed as the District’s Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in August of 2010. 

As the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction K-12, her primary role is to assist the Superintendent of Schools by providing leadership and vision in the ongoing establishment of goals, planning, development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum, and instructional programs in the District.  The Office of Curriculum and Instruction is dedicated to providing opportunities so all students have the skills to reach their full potential upon graduation.  Our job as a learning community is to foster respect and understanding for every child and to offer educational experiences for students that are founded in a rigorous study of the academic disciplines.

Educational Credo 

As educators, I believe it is our responsibility to create a learning environment that supports ALL students regardless of race, gender, or economic status. We have the responsibility to create opportunities and educational programs that allow ALL students to develop the skills and behaviors necessary to succeed and become productive citizens in society.

I believe we need to come to work each day and celebrate the unique talents and qualities of ALL the students we serve in our community.  Our role is to create a school culture that fosters inclusivity, acceptance, peer relationships, and teamwork. 

I believe that ALL students deserve a learning environment that is inviting, engaging, inspiring, motivating, and challenging.  An environment that allows students to become independent thinkers and problem solvers.  An environment that teaches students to be risk-takers and not fear failure but to see it as a process of success.

I believe we need to continue to reflect, enhance and adjust.  Never settle for the status quo. Think outside the box and be willing to change even when it is not always the popular thing to do.  Always remember that the decisions we make should be in the best interest of CHILDREN.
