Canaan Elementary School recently hosted its inaugural color run fundraiser, collecting over $20,000 to support school assemblies and PTA events. Students, administrators, faculty, and staff all eagerly participated, with some running while others threw color. This included Canaan Elementary School’s principal, Ray Ruiz, who both tossed color and was completely covered. Families were invited to watch as well, enhancing community unity and joy.
Patchogue-Medford High School senior Abigail Caravella and junior Kiersten Schafer claimed the first acting Teeny Awards in the high school’s history for their respective performances in the school’s production of Mean Girls. Abigail won lead role in a comedy musical for her performance as Cady Heron, and Kiersten was honored as the best supporting role in a comedy musical for her portrayal of Janis Sarkisian.
Patchogue-Medford High School’s production of Mean Girls recently received five acting nominations in this year’s Teeny Awards. Abigail Caravella and Sienna Reefer are both nominated for lead role in a comedy musical for their respective performances as Cady Heron and Regina George. Katelyn Oterson as Gretchen Wieners, Georgia Salerno as Karen Smith, and Kiersten Schafer as Janis Sarkisian are all nominated for supporting role in a comedy musical.
Saxton Middle School recently hosted its 17th-Annual Tommy Hamm Memorial Volleyball Tournament. Over 130 students participated in the tournament, which has been raising money for the Thomas C. Hamm High School Memorial Scholarship fund annually since its inception in 2009. The scholarship is awarded to two Patchogue-Medford High School seniors who represent the admirable attributes of dedication, sportsmanship, humor, and responsibility associated with Tommy Hamm, a Patchogue-Medford School District alumnus who passed following a battle with cancer at 20.
PATCHOGUE, NEW YORK (MAY 2025)—Patchogue-Medford School District recently hosted the inaugural Patchogue-Medford Middle School Math Olympiad Competition and Celebration. Over eighty sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade students from the District’s three middle schools—Oregon Middle School, Saxton Middle School, and South Ocean Middle School—participated in the final math olympiad competition of the season at Saxton Middle School.

Bus Buddy and Pure Smile Business Proposals Take First at Eighth-Annual Business Plan Competition
MEDFORD, NEW YORK (APRIL 2025)—Patchogue-Medford High School students recently submitted competitive business proposals to the eighth-annual Patchogue Young Professionals and Patchogue-Medford High School Business Plan Competition. Four Patchogue-Medford High School pitches placed, sharing $3,750 in prize money provided by the Kiwanis Club of Patchogue.
MEDFORD, NEW YORK (FEBRUARY 2025)—The Patchogue-Medford High School Career and Technical Education (CTE) cosmetology program recently visited the Brookhaven Health Care Facility to form meaningful connections with community members and provide hair, makeup, and nail services to residents for free.

Homecoming 2025 will spotlight our incredible ACES (Academic and Career Explorers) and Career and Technical Education (CTE) students—true gamechangers in our school community! Throughout the year, they’ve wowed us with their achievements, their dedication and school spirit, and the hard work of our ACES students has helped fund essential resources, including tents and float trailers, empowering our students to design and build one-of-a-kind homecoming floats.
