You can learn. We can help.

Welcome to the South Ocean Middle School Website. South Ocean is the oldest of the district’s three middle schools. South Ocean is rich with tradition and always attracts visitors by its distinguished and exquisite construction. Built in 1924, the building first served as a High School. In the late 1960’s the facility started as a junior high and as of 2004, South Ocean was restructured to become a true middle school serving students in grades 6, 7, & 8. Our 41 faculty members compliment our instructional program for our 500 students.

Our students can participate in extracurricular clubs and athletics, and at almost all levels of local, county and statewide competitions. Our after school and evening activities are sponsored by all four parent organizations. Our Parent-Teacher Association (P.T.A.), Site-Based Management Team (S.B.M.T.), Parents Of Patchogue Students (P.O.P.S.), and the South Ocean Music Booster Association (S.O.M.B.A.) committees are constantly fundraising and working to support our student programs and activities. Our student’s excellent academic averages allow them to earn honor, merit and principal status.

As Principal, I will be visibly active, constantly engaged and always available to pursue every resource for your child to be successful. The faculty and staff will share and follow my commitment. We cannot do it alone. We desperately need your help. Your child’s safety, education and thorough enjoyment of their middle school experience will always be our priority. I look forward to working as a team between school and community to achieve success. Always feel free to contact me at 631-687-6600 or e-mail me at RRusielewicz@pmschools.org.

Sincerely,

Dr. Randy E. Rusielewicz
