Parents Of Patchogue Students (P.O.P.S.)

            The South Ocean Parents Of Patchogue Students (P.O.P.S.) group are highly committed  parents who work closely with school personnel and other district community groups to raise money to benefit our children. The P.O.P.S. group also helps out at many school functions and often provides refreshments and light snacks at our events. The Co-Chairmen for the 2008-2009 school year will be Mr. Robert Balke and Mr. Roy Donato.  The P.O.P.S. group meets on the second Tuesday of every month, following PTA meetings. We encourage all community members to join our P.O.P.S. group. The P.O.P.S. group recently provided a pizza party for our 6^th grade orientation.  The P.O.P.S organization enthusiastically sponsors events throughout the year like Parents and Teachers vs. Students Volleyball game and the Talent Show.  The P.O.P.S. group is also responsible for the wonderful 9/11 tribute in the front of South Ocean. South Ocean Music Booster Association (S.O.M.B.A.)

The South Ocean Music Booster Association (S.O.M.B.A.) is a parent organization supporting the music and art programs at South Ocean Middle School. S.O.M.B.A. members support students with their active participation at the concerts, art shows, art club, school musicals, show choir, jazz band, chamber orchestra, and in planning and sponsoring cultural arts programs and trips for South Ocean students. S.O.M.B.A. has provided scholarships and awards to students in recognition of their outstanding artistic and musical accomplishments. They also provide scholarships to former South Ocean students that are graduating from the Patchogue-Medford High School and who will be continuing their studies in college. In recent years, they organized trips to see OLIVER! at the Gateway Theater in Bellport and Beauty and the Beast in New York City. Membership is Free! Their annual craft fair will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2008.  The S.O.M.B.A president for the 2008-2009 school year is Mrs. Julia Winn and Mrs. Wendy Fucci.
