BATTLE OF THE BOOKS

From September through Mid-January, the sixth grade classes will be reading from selected age approprate books. The classes who have ELA in the morning will choose books from the RED reading list, while those who have ELA in the afternoon will choose from the GREEN reading list. Each list includes 50 titles, which we own multiple copies of and are shelved seperatly. At the end of January, Battles will start and classes will compete against eachother. A question from one of the 50 books will be asked to a team, and they will have one minute to discuss and answer the question. At the end of the period, the team with the most points advances, and will compete against another class until we have ONE winning AM class and ONE winning PM class.

The second half of the year we will repeat the process exchanging lists. After we have completed the second round of the Battle of the Books in June, we will conduct battles with the winning classes on ALL 100 books. This will give us the Ultimate Sixth Grade Battle of the Books Winner. This class will recieve a pizza party provided by the Library.
