PTA Executive Board Members for 2008-2009

Across the country, the mission of the PTA's is all the same, "To support and speak on behalf of the children and youth in our schools."  PTA members worked tirelessly improving the River school community be offering programs through Arts and Education, sponsoring school-wide events and contests, and providing assistance to students for field trips and oher educational opportunities.

For generations, the River PTA actively supports student academic programs and cultural activities. Through ongoing fundraising efforts, volunteering in classrooms, and participation in district-wide activities, ours is one of the most active PTA's in the district. Regular PTA meetings are held in the library at 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month. All parents are encouraged to become PTA members. For the sixth consistent year, the River PTA boasts 100 % teacher membership!

Among the activities and projects that the PTA supports; Mother's Day plant sale, 5th Grade Moving-Up Ceremony, all-school musical, district-wide basketball shootout, field day, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Giving Tree, DARE graduation, Scholastic Book Fair, Patchogue-Medford Literacy Initiative, Site-Based Team Science Night, Build-A-Book Nights, district-wide track meet, P-M District-wide Show Choir and sponsor of the annual Harlem Wizards vs. River Roadrunners Family Fun Night. Although this list seems comprehensive, it is only a short summary of initiatives that the River PTA supports each day at our school.

The PTA is also responsible for hosting the annual Kindergarten Ice Cream Social and Orientation, producing the River Yearbook, and coordinating student picture day each September.

PTA Meetings will be held on the following dates at 7pm:
9/19, 10/10, 11/14, 1/9, 2/13, 3/12, 4/9 and 5/14
