What does it mean to be a person of character? It means a person that is respected for their honesty, integrity, and moral strength. So where does it come from?
Helen Douglas says: "Character is not inherited. One builds character daily by the way one thinks and acts, thought by thought, action by action."
Today build your character by carefully thinking through each situation and deciding to act in the most honest and moral way.
With something to think about, this Mr. Mundell. Make it a great day, or not, the choice is yours.
Tuesday, September 23- B Day
Today is brainteaser Tuesday. Come up to the Library and test your knowledge.
If you are interested in joining the Yearbook Club, please come to the Library for a meeting Thursday after school.

Our "Back to School Night" will be held on Thursday, September 25, at 7PM. All parents are invited to participate. Parents will report to their child's first period class and follow an "A" day schedule.
Anne Frank wrote these words in her diary, "Parents can only give good advice or put their children on the right path, but the final forming of a person's character lies in their own hands."
She is talking about self-responsibility. It means taking responsibility for your words, actions, and deeds. Parents, teachers, counselors, and spiritual leaders can offer good us advice. They can share their wisdom. In the end, it is up to us to make the right choices. So, practice taking responsibility for your actions. If you make a mistake, admit it. If you say something that hurts someone else's feelings apologize. As a self-responsible person you will be a person of character.
With something to think about, this is Mr. Mundell. Make it a great day or not the choice is yours.

Eleanor Roosevelt was the wife of former President, Franklin Roosevelt. She was asked if she had any regrets in life. She replied:
"I would have liked to have been prettier."
Eleanor Roosevelt's gift to the world was the beauty of her wisdom. She said, "You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do that which you think you cannot do."
Here's the challenge today: Be courageous. Are you afraid of something? Look fear in the face, then make it a great day, or not. The choice is yours.

Does it ever seem like everything costs so much money?
Listen to this old American proverb:
"There is nothing that costs so little, nor goes so far, as courtesy."
Being well mannered, kind, and respectful to others doesn't cost a penny, but it's worth a great deal. It will help you succeed, and it will enrich the lives of those around you. Remember this: Courtesy pays.

When great American actress Cicely Tyson was a child, her mother taught her how to embroider. They made huge tablecloths and bedspreads. Although each worked on separate parts, they were always connected by the huge piece of fabric.
Each one of us has something unique to contribute to this thing we call the Quilt of Life. We can contribute regardless of age, skin color, language, religious beliefs, or the size of our home. Henry David Thoreau once said, "If a man does not keep pace with his companions...perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far."

Every day we pause for a minute to hear the wisdom of others. It is important to educate our minds as well as our hearts if we are to become successful human beings.
Listen to Ben Franklin: "Without freedom of thought, there can be no such thing as wisdom. In other words, our freedom to think allows us to make our choices. We can decide right and wrong, what's wise and foolish, what's responsible and what's not. Exercise your freedom to think before you choose and you'll choose more wisely. Science tells us that you and I and everything in the universe are made up of a selection of only one hundred or so types of atoms. In other words, we are all literally made of the same stuff. You might say we are unified by a common atomic heritage.
Albert Einstein said, "Our task must be to widen our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."
As you move through the day today, notice that although we come in different colors, shapes, and sizes, we literally share a common bond with each other, with the earth, and with the stars. Today, focus on our common bonds while celebrating the diversity that makes our country great.

We live in a world that seems to be getting smaller. Think about it. our small global village is made up of people from very diverse backgrounds, religions, races, and cultures. Rene Dubos says, "Human diversity makes acceptance more than a virtue, it makes it a requirement f or survival."
In other words accepting others is more than simply the nice thing to do. We must be accepting in order to survive. Today, be more understanding of those who may be different than you.

American author, Peter Drucker, believes that the greatest resource we have is not anything material. He says, "the individual is the most precious capital resource of our society."
If Mr. Drucker is right, then that means that YOU are the more valuable than anything money can buy. Each one of you is an important and unique part of our society. If you choose to do your best, you can contribute more than your weight in gold.
