2009 New York State
Teacher of the Year Finalist
Mrs. Joan D'Urso

"Tell me and I forget.  Show me and I remember. Involve me and I understand."

These words best summarize Mrs. D'Urso's style of teaching and what singled her out as being one of five finalists for 2009 New York State Teacher of the Year.

Mrs. D'Urso does some interesting things in her classroom, from studying insects to having students balance eggs on the autumnal equinox.

Her students don't only learn, but they want to learn more.

Congratulations, Mrs. D'Urso. You are what educators are all about and we here at Medford are truly lucky to have you inspire our students.
