Rocket Science

Working in design teams consisting of five members each, fifth grade students
constructed rockets out of soda bottles and a large assortment of
materials, including foam, cardboard, foil, and clay.  With elementary
school math specialist Mrs. Jamie Piecora leading the way, the students
then tested out their rockets the old fashioned way, using water and
air pressure as fuel.  Students used altimeters to measure
the altitude of each rocket at its highest point.  Two rockets flew
to heights over 100 feet! Two rockets flew over the fence and into a
neighbor's backyard!  Mrs. Soldano, we hope you were taking
notes.  Space camp is less than one week away!
