Fifth graders at Medford Elementary School have been reading and analyzing
numerous poems since September, with the culminating activity being the first
annual Poetry Anthology Celebration. Each student wrote their own poems modeled
after published pieces, creating their own Poetry Anthology books, and read their
favorite poem to the class. Guest reader Regent Roger Tilles, currently the Regent
representing Long Island on the New York State Board of Regents,
 shared several of his favorite poems with the students, including works
by Shel Silverstein, Jack Prelutsky, and Bruce Lansky.
