PMHS Relay For Life - June 7-8, 2008

Over 800 people participated in the 2008 Relay For Life held on June 7-8 on the PMHS track. There were 81 teams and over $71,000 was raised for the American Cancer Society. The student coordinator was Nicole Calado. There were many clubs that participated including Interact, Key Club, Venture Crew, Model UN etc. The elementary schools raised over $9,000.00 by having a mini-relay. There was a survivors dinner followed by a survivors lap and 2 survivors, including Mr. Borowski(PMHS Science Teacher), told their stories about their cancer experiences.

There were many student bands, people walking laps and the luminary ceremony where paper bags with candles in them were lit in memory of someone who had cancer. The luminary bags circled the entire track making an impressive display. It is done when its dark and its a very beautiful ceremony. Luminary bags were put in the stands spelling out HOPE.

Thanks to all the students, teachers, administrators and other participants for making this event such a huge success!
