PMHS student, Brendan Minogue, attended the Ivan G. Seidenberg Scholars Summer Computing Experience at Pace University this past Summer. Brendan was chosen for this prestigious program based on his SAT scores and the recommendation of his Advanced Placement Computer Science Teacher, Kathy Bucaria. Brendan took Advanced Placement Computer Science A as a junior and earned a perfect score of 5 on the exam. He is currently taking AP Computer Science AB as a senior.The students who were chosen were 36 of the top computing students from around the United States who are entering their senior year of high school.

The theme for the Summer program was "Alternative energies and renewable resources". The hosts were, Dean Susan Merritt, the faculty of the Seidenberg School, and Pace University staff.

Goals of the program were to help identify the next class of Seidenberg Scholars who will enroll at Pace in fall 2008. Also to To hold a creative, interactive, and entertaining multi-day experience connecting top high school students with Pace University and its faculty.

Participants were part ot a dynamic, hands-on program that placed them in in teams working to develop a software and system design that addresses both the problems and the innovations involved in the ongoing search for alternative energies and renewable resources. The program gave students the opportunity to meet Pace faculty, senior administrators, and students as well as Seidenberg School Advisory Board members. Mr. Seidenberg also met with the students.

The students made visits to exciting destinations throughout New York, and all meals and houseing was at the dorms of the New York City campus.
