United States Navy Parachute Team - Leap Frogs Honor PMHS Grad, Lieutenant Michael Murphy,
on May 24th at Raider Stadium

Enjoy some of the pictures from the very exciting yet bittersweet Parachute show and ceremony in honor of 1994 PMHS Grad Lieutenant Michael Murphy. The United States Navy Parachute Team had a team of 8 men jump from an aircraft and land in Raider Stadium. It was a spectacular day with blue skies and a light breeze. The jumpers showed off their highly skilled maneuvering of the parachutes to the yells and cheers of over 3000 student, teachers and staff.

Michael Murphy attended the Patchogue-Medford Schools and graduated from Patchogue-Medford High School in 1994. While in high school, Michael played football and other sports, excelled in his academics and was an active member of our National Honor Society. After high school, Michael attended Penn State and graduated in 1998. After college, Michael joined the elite, Navy Seals. Michael became a highly regarded officer. While on tour, Michael and his fellow officers were attacked during combat. Heroically, Michael bravely fought off the attackers and defended our country, while protecting his comrades. In a valiant effort, Lieutenant Michael Murphy lost his life while serving and helping others.

The family of Lieutenant Michael Murphy was presented with a flag in his honor and Mr. Murphy spoke to the students about never forgetting what our soldiers have done for our freedom and to remember to thank a veteran this weekend as it is Memorial Day.
