Bay Elementary School Across the country, the mission of the PTA's is all the same, "To support and speak on behalf of the children and youth in our schools." The Bay PTA certainly reflects that commitment by offering cultural arts activities through Arts and Education, sponsoring school-wide programs and contests, volunteering at school events, providing assistance to students in times of need, and most importantly by supporting student academic programs and other educational opportunities. Regular PTA meetings are held in the cafeteria at 7:00 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month. All parents are encouraged to become PTA members. Our PTA membership increased for the third year in a row and we proudly boast 100% teacher membership. Among the activities and projects that the PTA supports: Welcome Back BBQ, School pictures and Yearbook, Kindergarten and Newcomer Ice cream Social, Costume Numbers Night, Class Parent Brunch, Fall Festival, Staff Appreciation Day Luncheon, Annual Scholarship and Spaghetti Dinner, Sweetheart and Sock hop Dances, Teacher/Parent Volleyball Game, Culture Museum, Safety Fair, Colonial Bayville Village, Soapbox Derby Game Nights, Sports Night, Movie Night, Spirit Days, Mother's Day plant sale, 5th Grade Moving-Up Ceremony, 5th Grade Trip, district-wide basketball shootout, field days, Angel Tree, DARE graduation, Scholastic Book Fairs, Patchogue-Medford Literacy Initiative, district-wide track meet, School Magic Night, Living History Project and various MESTRACT grant activities. Although this list seems comprehensive, it is only a short summary of initiatives that the Bay PTA supports each day at our school.
