We
are soon approaching that time of year to begin student
placement. Great care and consideration go into the class
placement decision for each student for the subsequent year.
Factors such as academic strengths and weaknesses, behavioral
characteristics, overall ability and the social and emotional
needs of each child are taken into account. Heterogeneous
classes are formulated by classroom teachers, special area
teachers and other school personnel who have knowledge of the
students.
Certainly, parent
input is considered where a child has a unique concern, and
provisions must be made to insure proper placement. Please
understand that requests of convenience or preference cannot be
granted because of a commitment to all Barton students. If
you wish that your child NOT be placed in a class in which a
sibling has previously been placed, we will try to honor your
request for an alternate placement. Parents should direct
individual concerns in writing to Ms. Soltner no later than May
15, 2009.
