TITLE: EGG BEARING ANIMALS


GRADE LEVEL: 3/4
 

OBJECTIVE: Using the technology available to students and teachers in the

Patchogue -Medford School District, Students Will Be Able To
 

· Choose egg bearing animal for research project

· Gather and interpret information from children's reference books, magazines, textbooks, electronic bulletin boards, audio and media presentations, oral interviews, and from such forms as charts, graphs, maps and diagrams

· Select information appropriate to the purpose of their investigation and relate ideas from one text to another

· Interpret information found on subject

· Discriminate between important and unimportant information

· Organize material into coherent structure

Procedure:

1. Group children in teams of four to six students for center work

2. Organize students according to assignments

3. Students will have agreed upon period of time at each Center to complete assignment

4. Each team will use observation skills at incubation site

5. Students will record data of progress at site

6. Following teacher modeling, students will take a picture of progress at incubation site

7. Following teacher modeling, students will insert picture into Super Link program for multimedia presentation and printing of pictures

8. Students will use pictures taken at incubation site to tell story of process
 
 
 

Evaluation
 

Students will complete assignment in agreed time period

Students will take part in group discussions concerning incubation

Students will present report including digital picture and explanation of picture
