Procedure:
1. Group children in teams of four to six students for center work
2. Organize students according to assignments
3. Students will understand the structure, characteristics and habitats of plants and animals
4. Students will use the five senses to observe accurately
5. Students will note the differences and similarities between living and non living things
6. With two students per computer, students will access the Internet to read for information
7. Students will have agreed upon period of time at each Center to complete assignment
8. Students will enter the Internet through the Internet book on the School Vista bookshelf
9. Students will click on the left hand box, the Read mail box
10. Students will click on READ at the bottom of the screen
11. Students will click on the paper clip in the upper right hand corner of the screen to access sites
12. Students will cooperatively practice managing their way through the Internet using e-mail
13. Students will practice using the mouse for clicking and scrolling
14. Students will develop a sight vocabulary through shared reading, guided reading, independent reading and exposure to print on the Internet
15. Students will make connections and organize thinking
16. Students will apply prior knowledge to new reading tasks
17. Students will monitor and adjust activities
Evaluation
Students will complete assignment in agreed upon time period
Students will cooperate with peer team member to accomplish tour of the Internet
Students feel comfortable looking at the Internet
to research information on various topics
